Let's go on a virtual field trip... to Barcelona!

Virtual Field Trip

Next stop: Barcelona

I love Barcelona. The architecture, the beaches, the food, the language... everything about it. Click the link below to take a stroll through some of my favourite places in Barcelona. From the boardwalks to Sagrada Familia, Parque Guell and the main strip... This virtual field trip has me missing travel!

In the first scene you'll see the Tibidabo Amusement Park. To the left of the amusement park, you'll see a sight-seeing spot that overlooks Barcelona. If you look closely, you might even be able to see another point of interest, Sagrada Familia. Just behind the amusement park is the Roman Catholic Church, Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor (The Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus).

The second scene takes us closer up to Sagrada Familia. This is a church that was designed by architect Antoni Gaudi. This church has been in construction for over 135 years! Nearby are some beautiful gardens of the Sedeta. Each side of the church is said to take on a different facade.

Parque Guell is the third stop on this virtual field trip! A beautiful spot that is home to more of Antoni Gaudi's unique aricheture. Nearby you'll see the Greek Theatre, the Gaudi Museum, and Casa del Guarda!

La Rambla is the main strip in Barcelona, and it is the fourth stop on our field trip! Take a look at the store on street called "Jamon Experience". Jamon is like the Spanish version of Prosciutto, a cured, thinly sliced ham. In this store there is a golden ham leg! In peak tourist seasons, there are several boutiques set up on La Rambla selling cheese, flowers, postcards, and souvenirs.

Last stop: the beach! Our last stop is at La Barceloneta. This is the main beach in Barcelona. You can see a tall building down the beach; this is the W Hotel. The stretch of beach between La Barceloneta and the W Hotel has several unique sculptures, including La Estrella Herida.

I loved this virtual field trip. I could imagine using this virtual tool to create an engaging activity for several subjects. Using this kind of immersive resource allows students the ability to explore on their own and discover new things all from the safety of their classroom or home. I would use this to spark imagination for writing exercises, mapping activities, or as part of a hook or introduction for a lesson.
